       BOWLS OXFORDSHIRE

                       Affiliated To Bowls England

Reasons for Unification

Draft Policy Paper No: 5

 Reasons for unification:

  1. To provide opportunities for all affiliated bowlers in Oxfordshire to fulfil their reasonable aspirations within our sport, without biase, prejudice or age, gender or disability limitations.
  2. To change processes that may currently exist to make them fairer for all and to ensure they comply with laws on equality. This includes common costs for affiliation, entry fees for competitions, match fees and travel costs, within the policies agreed for Bowls Oxfordshire.
  3. To value new bowlers starting out in the game, to ensure they get enjoyment and opportunities to improve their game.
  4. To increase opportunities for younger people and those with impairments or disabilities.
  5. To reduce the large workloads being experienced by a few committed people, by lowering expectations for key individuals and engaging more people to share the workload in manageable proportions.
  6. To manage different playing opportunities at the most practical level to suit different needs and to improve the bowls experience for both men and women by building on our existing solid foundations and opening up new avenues of enjoying our game.
