News has just reached us of the passing of Les Aldridge who passed away peacefully at home yesterday.
Les was one of the founder members of the Blackbird Leys Bowls club in 1966 and stayed there all his bowling life.
In his heyday he was a regular Middleton Cup player having made lead bowling his speciality, very rarely playing in any other position, how times have changed.
In 1981  Les, along with Keith Foster, Ken Peaper and Gordon Roper won the County Fours, then repeated the success in 1991 with J. Mooney replacing Ken Peaper.
In between these two titles, 1984 saw Les do it all on his own when winning the coveted County Singles Championship.
Les leaves two daughter and one son and our sympathies are with them and their families.
