Letitia Batten, Secretary of South Oxford Bowls Club writes:

Sad news. Mick Keen passed away last night having been ill for a couple of years. Mick played for the County and the Middleton Cup. He was a longstanding member of our Club having been President and Club Captain each for many years. He was a lovely man and I  never heard anyone say anything bad against him. Sorely missed

Chris Weller also reflects:

Truly sad news from South Oxford Secretary Letitia Batten at the passing of Mick Keen .  echo completely her words in describing Mick and his approach to bowls and life in general. I would suggest if you wanted to make a list of the people you wanted to play against in any opposition , South Oxford, his former club OUP , or any other side he played for, you would put Mick very high on that list, for the quality of his bowling , his sportsmanship, and his smile and attitude.

Details of Mick Keen's funeral - 12noon on Monday, 9 December at North Oxford Crematorium, Tackley. OX5 3ER.

We understand that Mick's family ask those attending the funeral to try and wear something orange. Mick was a life-long supporter of Blackpool Football Club - hence the orange.
