Helen Robinson has informed us that Eric Davis, died during the night on 15 May.  Eric was 96.
He was a member of SVBC for many years.  He lived in Plowden Way and after he stopped playing would often walk across to the green to watch games in progress.   Newer members who wouldn't have known him should ask at the club to be shown the photo of Eric taken when he played with a triple in the National Finals, having qualified as the runners up in the county competition.
Eric was greenkeeper for many years - initially while working full time. As part of his duties he mowed the green without the mowing team we have now!  In recognition of his service to the club he was made a life member.
Eric had been in poor health for some time.  His wife Freda is now in a home in Henley.
When Helen hears any details of the funeral she will let people know.
