The sad news has just reached us of the passing of Les Westcott.

Les will be remembered by many as a member of Thame BC where most of his bowling years were spent, before he moved to Watlington in 2015 where he quickly established himself and became very popular with all the members. He was a key player in the clubs successful league team and a valuable all round club member.

His time at Thame BC was crowned in 2004 when he was a member of the Four along with his fellow rink members Vic Webb, Graham Penn and Ron Slater that lost out in the County Final to the Banbury Borough rink of Alan Prew, George Moon, Gary Lucas and Greg Moon who between them in that year shared all the four titles. The Borough rink decided to contest another of the HCBA Championships which passed Oxfordshire’s Four’s representation to Les and his team mates.

With a combined age of 264 Les, Vic, Graham and Ron gave their supporters at the HCBA finals played at Oxford City & County BC plenty to cheer and applause as they succeeded in a very gripping final. A happy memory for those who saw it and most certainly for those alongside Les who played in it.

Our sincere thoughts are with Hazel and family.
