PRESIDENTS MESSAGE 2024
Gentlemen,
Firstly, I thank Banbury Borough Bowling Club for nominating me for President of the Oxfordshire Bowling Association. I also thank all those who approved my nomination at the last AGM.
It is both a great honour and privilege to hold this office and I will do my best to carry out the duties of this office in 2024.
I am pleased to welcome Tony Wright as my deputy for 2024. Tony is a member of Oxford City and County Bowls Club, and he was president of the club in 2023. Together I believe, we can enhance the position of President during 2024.
Every year brings new challenges to the game of bowls, and it is incumbent on all members from all clubs to embrace this wonderful sport of ours and reverse the trend of falling membership.
You might feel you could take a coaching or umpiring course and there will always be administration posts to fill at both club and county level. These are not the most glamorous of jobs, but they are rewarding and are essential to the existence of the game we love.
I ask you to put your names forward for selection in our midweek county friendly matches. We have a hard-working Selection Committee who need your support, so more names the better.
Finally, I wish everyone a successful 2024 season and may all your efforts be rewarded. So, let’s take Oxfordshire Bowling Association forward to bigger and better things together.
