Brief report of the Two Wood Day

Headington to Contest the County Two Wood  Semi-Finals
The County Two Wood Competition took place on Sunday 30th May at South Oxford and City & County.
24 Players at South Oxford and 25 Players at City & County playing down to the last Two players at
both venues.
The day got off to a rather damp and misty start but by the quarter Final stage at lunch time the Sun
came out but Both playing surfaces were excellent so no complaints credit to both greenkeepers.
At the Semi-Final stage at City and County three players from Headington and one from West Witney
were still in contention. Colin Whitehead vs Nathan Lewis with Colin coming out the victor 15-5 and in
the other Semi-Final Mark Charlett vs Henry Beal with Mark being the victor 15-8. Huge thanks to
Brian Flitter for running the day and the committee at City and County for the facilities.
At South Oxford the Semi-Final stage consisted of all four from the Headington Club.
James Gaskins vs Paul Mabbutt with James winning 15-8 and in the other Semi-final Nick Rea-Welsh
vs Ian Snowdon Nick coming out on top 12-7. Thanks to the South Oxford Club for the facilities of the day.
Therefore the County Two Wood  Semi-Finals at South Oxford on the 18th July will be an all Headington
affair with James Gaskins vs Nick Rea-Welsh and Mark Charlett vs Colin Whitehead.
Great to be back playing Competition Bowls.
